A Day in the Life of a Marketing Teacher Back to Top

Marketing involves teaching students the fundamentals, theories, and processes of advertising. It is often mixed into the curriculum of Business classes, which may also include Finance, Economics, Accounting, Management, and Ethics, amongst others. Still, Marketing does sometimes exist as an independent field of study. In-depth Marketing classes are implemented to educate students on the process of planning and executing the pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods and services. Marketing classes are not usually offered prior to high school.

High School

Marketing is taught at an introductory level in many secondary schools throughout the United States. These courses aid in developing student competencies in market planning, mathematics, and technology. Often, high school Marketing courses will bring together the fields of business, economics, design, and psychology while examining historical and contemporary advertising campaigns as case studies. Though Marketing is generally an undergraduate or graduate study, many secondary school offer it as an elective. Marketing teachers will have a Bachelor’s degree at the high school level.
