A Day in the Life of a Keyboarding Teacher Back to Top
Not to be confused with Computer Science, Keyboarding is the study of efficiently using with a computer, namely via the keyboard. A Keyboarding instructor focuses on teaching his or her pupils how to be efficient computer users through mastery of typing technique. The primary goal is proper key stroking, competent non-sighted operation of the keyboard, and an increase in words-per-minute typed. Implementation of correct technique and consequent improvements in stamina, accuracy, and speed are achieved through repetitive exercises, drills, and interactive educational software.
As computers become more widely used on a daily basis, familiarization with navigation them becomes necessary at earlier ages. Following this trend, Keyboarding classes are now available in all levels of educational institutions, from elementary school all the way up to college.
A Keyboarding teacher does not necessary need to have a Bachelor’s degree, but must be certified to teach by the state.
