A Day in the Life of a Early Essential Education Teacher Back to Top

Early Essential Education (EEE) is a alternative program for children ages 3-5 who show an early delay in social, communicative, or academic development indicative of disorders or disabilities. Children eligible for such a program often receive a Individual Education Plan (IEP). Similar to a daycare service, children attend or receive sessions several mornings or afternoons a week and learn to communicate, learn, and socialize through play and activities with other children. Through this type of program, educators can analyze the childs development and behavior while teaching the children to function in a social and educational setting. Activities, in a addition to encouraging group interaction, often emphasize motor skills and craft activity. Observation helps diagnose and treat different disorders.

An EE Educator must be extremely patient and caring and enjoy working with young children. Because they exhibit antisocial behavior, teachers can expect many challenges in encouraging social interaction. Formal education is generally required through the high school level, and a screening process for the teacher would be standard. The goal of such programs is to cultivate necessary social and learning skills in order for the child to have as much future success as possible. As an early special education program, children must qualify according to state and federal laws and regulations.
