Job Title: Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) Learning Facilitator
Reports to: Executive Director
Days Per Year: 190
Salary: Based on years of experience
Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Certified in Science
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the subjects assigned
Experience:
Completion of student teaching or approved internship
Experience or training in Project Learning
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1. Develop and implement project learning, rubric development, and standards based reporting.
2. Design projects that differentiate for the needs of all learners.
3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administration regulation.
4. Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
5. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
6. Plan and instruct following the iSchool model.
7. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
8. Applies principles of effective teaching practices.
9. Employ timely and effective evaluation techniques.
10. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
11. Create and produce scope and sequence, projects and lesson plans
12. Create online curriculum using Moodle.
13. Utilize iSchool rubrics for all measurements, projects and assessments.
Student Growth and Development
14. Provide guidance to students relative to their educational, personal, and social growth, and development
15. Identify and provide assistance for students with special needs.
16. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
17. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
18. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus director.
19. Be a positive role model for students, and support the mission of the campus and of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
20. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
21. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
22. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
23. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
24. Establish and maintain open lines of communication and positive working relations by conducting conferences with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
25. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
26. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Personal Qualities
27. Set an example of and encourage socially acceptable behavior in the areas of appearance, correct usage of speech, and manners.
28. Display emotional maturity in contacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
29. Possess physical competency necessary for performance of assignments.
30. Maintain a positive attitude in working with students, parents, staff, and the community.

31. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

32. Attend 1-week Summer Institute (Project Learning) and 1-week Summer Tribes Training
33. Adhere to the principles as listed in the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
34. Keep informed of, and comply with, state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
35. Display dependability and punctuality in all assigned duties.
36. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
37. Emphasize the importance of respect for school equipment, materials, and property.
38. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
39. Work in an environment with frequent visitors, i.e., student teacher observations, research firm, and business partners.

Supervise assigned teacher assistant(s).

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
