The Business Manager will be responsible for managing the divisional business office to provide fiscal and operational support to the division’s programs. The ideal candidate will have the experience in applying sound business practices to ensure the efficient and professional functioning of the division programs, along with increasing revenue to expand the Bronx Early Learning Center, Staten Island Early Learning Center and our large Special Education Itinerant Teach Program.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree plus (5) five years of relevant business administrative experience
• Minimum of (2) two years of supervisory/management experience
• Experience with New York State Education Department Preschool Special Education budgets and financial operations is required
• Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities budgets and financial operations experience preferred but not required
• Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet applications and word processing required
Position Responsibilities:
• Assist agency finance department in preparation of annual budgets and modifications.
• Manage preparation of billings, collection of revenues, and follow-up with funders.
• Manage program purchasing activities and approval of invoices including subcontracting.
• Manage property control including petty cash and client funds.
• Manage information systems function.
• Analyze financial reports and makes recommendations for operational improvements.
• Advise the division director on financial and operational matters in accordance with Volunteers of America’s policies and procedures.
The Business Manager will also be responsible for having an effect on the end results by ensuring the following:
• Budgets are of high quality and current.
• Bills to funders are accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
• Purchases provide good value and invoices are paid promptly.
• Inventory procedures are followed and provide accurate results and client funds are safeguarded.
• Division information systems operate efficiently.
• The agency is in compliance with accounting/auditing, funding source and budget requirements.
• Related duties are performed completely, on time and accurately.
