Description
The coach will collaborate with child care providers as well as Royal City School District, Catholic Family & Child Care Resource and Referral Network, and ESD 105 staff in the implementation of the Growing Great Learners project.
Description of Responsibilities:
A. Has the ability to work with child care providers, in their homes, in a respectful, supportive and collaborative manner.
B. Provides ongoing expertise and consultative services to child care programs and child care providers in the development of high quality centers.
C. Promotes the implementation of scientifically-based early language and literacy strategies to support the development of children’s cognitive skills.
D. Consults with Early Childhood P.D. Coordinator and specialists in special education and second language learning to develop instructional and environmental adaptations to meet the individual needs of children with special needs and English language learners.
E. Provides on-site training, coaching and mentoring to child care providers and preschool teachers.
F. Contributes to the development and maintenance of child documentation and record keeping.
G. Participates in the development and implementation of monthly trainings for participating child care providers in collaboration with partners to further develop the knowledge and skills needed for effective use of research-based strategies to teach children language and literacy skills and the incorporation of those skills into a high quality child care environment.
H. Coordinates with district staff to carry out procedures to insure that child and families successfully transition from child cares to the K-12 system.
I. Coordinates with kindergarten and preschool staff to ensure program alignment.
J. Contributes to the development of communication, mutual respect and support, competence, and creativity among all members of the Early Learning Department.
K. Participates in the development and implementation of the program’s evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. BA in the field of early childhood or related field.
2. With a BA have at least two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: teaching, teacher training and/or technical assistance in early childhood programs.
3. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
4. Knowledge of research in early language and literacy development and principles of instruction.
5. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse individuals and groups.
6. Exceptionally high commitment to task accomplishment and flexibility in work hours.
7. Personal transportation and willingness to travel.
