Education Week Releases Quality Counts Report Card

Education Week, an on-line education and teaching publication, recently released its annual report card for the status of national education efforts. Graded across six distinct areas of policy and performance, the Quality Counts report claims to be the most comprehensive analysis of American education out there. The verdict? An unimpressive C.

Individual states are graded on the same criteria, namely standards, assessment, accountability, continuous improvement in helping students succeed throughout their lives, school finance, and policy employed to strengthen the teaching profession. Only three states received B’s, with Maryland topping the list at a B+ and Massachusetts and New York following with B’s. The majority received marks of C or lower.

Though the nation clearly must improve in all six areas under scrutiny, this year’s report focuses on the new push for common standards to be implemented throughout the states. A movement since the 1980’s has seen a wave-like push for common standards in America, complete with troughs and peaks of enthusiasm. A 50-state survey conducted by the EPE Research Center found evidence potentially indicating a more unified approach toward defining common academic standards.

Amidst the national debate on the next step for education reform, the Quality Counts report gives a comprehensive view on the state of the nations academic policy. Though it received only a barely satisfactory grade, the annual report has at least highlighted several areas that states can specifically address when competing for federal funding in the Race to the Top competition.

You will probably choose to approach a bank & see at any time you can receive a loan to spend off all debts. The desire pace may possibly be more suitable there. Within your mean time, cut up all your credit score cards. Only purchase what you will want & with capital you have got.
